The volume is part of the I Compendi d'Autore series, conceived and structured specifically for all those who are preparing for oral exams for university and for the qualification to practice law or for the tests of the main public competitions .

The work is the result of a happy combination of the characteristic aspects, on the one hand, of the traditional manualistic treatment , of which it retains the structure and the essential notional approach, and, on the other, of the more modern "compendium" treatment , of which it adopts the capacity for synthesis and the schematic nature in the analysis of the legal institutions with particular attention to the practical aspects and the concrete consequences.

The result is a “third generation” model of texts for exam preparation , in which the imperative is to possess all the necessary and sufficient knowledge to brilliantly achieve the final objective.

To this end, the guidelines along which the series has developed have been clarity in form and completeness in substance .

Also in the 2025 Editions, the Series is enriched by the inclusion of boxes of Analogies and differences , very useful in the preparation because they are aimed at highlighting the common elements and distinctions between similar Institutes. The technique used in the boxes makes it very easy to use , understand and memorize aspects that are sometimes not simple and, however, essential of the disciplines covered.

The volume dedicated to Criminal Procedural Law is composed of 16 chapters through which the development of the criminal process is reconstructed, following the order of the procedural code. The different phases and institutions of the criminal process are treated in their essential elements, identifying, from time to time, their characteristics , functions and presuppositions .

The work combines procedural notions with the main aspects of the practice of courts and courtrooms, with the aim of reconciling the technical aspects of the various institutions and procedural phases with the need to understand the problems that involve the various subjects involved in the criminal process.

In the 2025 Edition , the Compendium of Criminal Procedural Law takes into account, in addition to the most recent jurisprudential debate , Also of the most important regulatory innovations , among which we highlight:

  • L. 18 November 2024 , n. 171, of conversion of Legislative Decree 1 October 2024 , n. 137 – ( Mandatory arrest in flagrante delicto and in deferred flagrante delicto );
  • L. 14 November 2024, n. 166, of conversion of Legislative Decree 16 September 2024 , n. 131 – ( Summary information, duties of the PG in the event of arrest or detention );
